I’ve been practising the motifs I need to make for the Happypotamus. it’s been a great way to use up some scrap yarn, so please excuse the colour choices.
African Flower Pentagon:
African Flower Hexagon:
African Flower Heptagon:
I think I’ve pretty much got the hang of these. There is an octagon to make as well but I don’t think I need to practice it now I have the general technique down.
Next up was the join-as-you-go technique. Since I had already completed these motifs I had to make something else in order to join. I decided to do something different and make some polkadots in squares. I found a great tutorial here. There are loads of pics in the tutorial so it was really easy to make them. I used the join-as-you-go tutorial from the Happypotamus pattern. After 3 frustrating failures it finally clicked!
I have ordered the Stylecraft Special DK Attic24 Colour Pack from Wool Warehouse. I’m still trying to decide exactly what colour combos I will use and whether to use white or cream or even an entirely different colour as the main background.
hi/
can you put here the diagram of the heptagon???
i couldn’t find it enywhere/
thanks.
Sorry for the late (very late) reply. I paid for the pattern so it wouldn’t be right for me to put it up here for free, however Heidi Bears who made the pattern do have a tutorial on their website for the hexagon which if you can get the hang on you will be able to adapt to make the hexagon. http://heidibearscreative.blogspot.co.uk/2010/05/african-flower-hexagon-crochet-tutorial.html
Can you please post the how-to for the heptagon? Thanx!

It’s fine, I figured it out shortly after I posted my question, but thanx anyway! 🙂
